Condition before treatment:

  1. Dark discolouration of whites and highlights.

  2. Flaking and heavily raised paint within glazed and dark areas.

Treatment carried out:

  1. Transformation of discoloured lead white pigment (➞ lead sulphide) into lead sulphate (➞ white). See above.

  2. Consolidation of flaking paint layer. See below.

  3. Retouching of losses
